Swim Course

The swim course is 500 meters long, consisting of ten lengths of the pool, which is 50 meters long.  The start will be an in-pool start in the northeast corner of the pool.  Wetsuits are not allowed.

Swimmers will change lanes at the end of the first length (50 meters).  You will then “snake” swim the next 400 meters.  Always swim to the right side of the lane and change lanes, under the lane ropes, at the south end of the pool.  The final 50 meters will be in the west lane of the pool.  You will exit the pool at the north end of this lane.  Please refer to the swim course map.

Please be courteous to your fellow participants by allowing them to pass you if they catch up to you.  Tap the toes of the person you are catching to let them know you are there.  If you are caught, and your feet are tapped, wait at the next wall and let the person catching you pass you before continuing.

It is permissible to stop in the pool.  You can stand on the bottom at any time without penalty.  If you do need to stop, please stand as far to the right side of the lane as possible to avoid interfering with other’s progress.  You may not use lane lines or walls to help propel yourself in the swim.  However, you are allowed to walk on the bottom of the pool if you do so without interfering with other swimmers.

Athletes will start approximately every ten seconds.  Additional breaks will be inserted as needed to avoid bunching of swimmers and keep the flow as smooth as possible.
